Matt is interested in the field of education, and he is a trustee (and former president of the Board of Trustees) of the Trinity School in New York City. He serves on the Board of Dean’s Advisors of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and as a board member of the University of Queensland in the United States of America. Jean-Marie became a Senior Adviser to the Global Value team in March 2009. Jean-Marie was named Morningstar’s International Manager of the Year in 2001, and in 2003 received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Morningstar for building one of the most successful long-term records in the investment business. Born in Poitiers, France in 1940, he is a graduate of Écoles des Hautes Études Commerciales, a French graduate school for economic studies. | ||

He also was responsible for supervising analyst and trading functions, monitoring tax and regulatory issues affecting the fund, and performing external fund marketing. In addition to co-managing the Gold Fund, Simon was a Senior Analyst for the value funds, including the First Eagle Overseas, Global, and U.S. Value Funds as well as the offshore funds including the Sofire Fund Ltd. He was responsible for covering the Industrial, Food and Beverage, and Mining and Utility sectors on a global basis. He also oversaw research of a number of smaller Japanese equities; many of these positions were subsequently sold having reached their intrinsic values. Prior to joining the First Eagle Funds, Simon worked for 10 years as an investment analyst in both Australia and the United Kingdom, covering the mining and industrial sectors. Simon has Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from the University of Queensland and completed his post-graduate studies with the Securities Institute of Australia.
